The draw which determined the fixtures to crown this season’s champion team from among Provincial champions who have qualified for the Sasol League Provincial Championship took place on Thursday, 26 September, 2024.
“It is because of Sasol’s fuel that we have girls playing in international leagues and we continue to produce a pool of highly talented players through the Sasol League in our provinces.”
SAFA CEO, Lydia Monyepao
From teams going the whole campaign without losing a match to scoring a whopping amount of goals, the competition concluded on 21 September had something for everyone to enjoy.
The final side to join the eight other teams was UCT, who successful defended their provincial title, the university side getting the better of fellow Western Cape opponents Magic FC on Saturday last weekend.
According to the rules of the competition, a draw was done after the group stages to ensure that the second-best-placed team does not play the winner of the same group.
Now that the competition has settled the fixtures in three group following the conclusion of yet another record-breaking season of league action, the nine teams each hold the chance to battle it out next month for national honours in Knysna.
The draw for the season’s national championships will see the best provincial teams go head-to-head over five days tense competition, with teams facing each other from 15-17 October at Knysna’s Loerie Park Sports Grounds.
The teams who progress will then play in the semi-finals scheduled for Friday, 18 October and the final will be played two days later, on Sunday, 20 October.
There is a lot at stake for the teams participating as the winner and runners-up will be promoted to the Hollywoodbets Super League, in addition to the rather enticing first prize with the winning team to receive R200,000 for their victory, while the silver medalists will take home R100,000.
