Lise de Klerk overcame measured assessment to beat top-ranked Veronique Luksich 6-4 6-2 in the Girls singles final of the Slazenger Classic Western Province Super 7 Tennis Tournament, to claim the U18 trophy in Cape Town on Sunday.
Luksich demonstrated her doubles prowess in turn, when she teamed up with Jade Pondicas to overcome de Klerk and Menanteau Moolman in the doubles finals.
Pre-event seedings for the contestants was otherwise consistent with the final winners in most cases, with the exception of U14 singles champion Jesse Grace, when the fourth-seeded player overcame Jessica Nienaber for the age-group title.
