The Mail and Guardian, widely regarded as Africa’s best read, has partnered South Africa’s leading women’s sport news provider, gsport, to power the coverage of women in sport on the continent.
The partnership sees gsport tap into the newspaper’s established infrastructure to boost coverage of women’s sport and encourage more mainstream support as efforts continue to fully professionalize the women’s game across sporting codes.
In an announcement today, M&G CEO Hoosain Karjiker said: “As Mail and Guardian, one of our core goals is to give more platforms to women, and to people writing about women.
“We are happy to work with gsport, help with the resources that we have, in order to amplify the voices of women in sport.”
gsport Founder, Kass Naidoo, said: “This partnership comes on the back of a year of consistent action by the gsport team to enhance our coverage of African women’s sport through the #gsportGlobal chapter.”
“The Mail and Guardian is a trusted voice in the mainstream media and the first SA paper to go online in 1994. We are excited about the journey ahead and can’t wait to combine our resources for the good of women’s sport in Africa.”
