South African international cricketer and Manchester Originals’ Mignon du Preez is thrilled that The Hundred competition will be launched with a women’s game for the first time when the Originals take on Oval Invincibles at the Oval on 21 July 2021.

The 31-year-old is also delighted with the prospect of playing in front of a crowd when the tournament commences.

“I am extremely excited,” du Preez revealed to SkySports.

“I think it’s wonderful that the ECB is showing this commitment towards the women’s game and that they really want to elevate women’s cricket,” she continued.

“And, to put them (us) on the same platform and give them the same visibility and exposure as the men, I really think it is going to be special.

“We are going to see some of the best cricketers from around the world come together at this one event, so I am really excited to be part of it,” she concluded.
