The Sasol Women’s League is reaching the business end of the season, and Mito Ladies and FC Raycon confirmed their places in the provincial playoffs this past weekend when the two Gauteng sides both topped their respective logs after what can be deemed as a successful campaign so far.
Both teams won 10 of their 14 matches while FC Raycon were able to secure a draw against Croesus Ladies on Saturday, 13 July 2024 which was enough to see them secure the top spot in Stream B, while Mito Ladies got a solid 2-0 win over NWU Vaal.
Over in the Eastern Cape, Sophakama Ladies and Executive Ladies are still setting the pace. The Ntabankulu are yet to lose a game this season, and are currently sitting on 11 from 11 victories.
Executive Ladies sealed a mammoth 10-0 win over 4800 Ladies FC at the weekend to keep them on their winning run in Stream B. Stream A’s Sophakama Ladies were also victorious getting the better of Madibaz Football 2-nil.
Things are tight in the North West streams as teams will be looking to avoid dropping points as that could prove detrimental in their race for a playoff place. Royal Queens top Stream A, but only have a two-point lead on second-placed Tswelelang De’ Scorpion FC.
Royal Queens were able to seal a 2-0 win against NWU Tawana FC. In Stream B, North West University (NWU) also holds a two-point lead over Mafikeng Ladies who are their closest rivals. NWU were 3-1 winners against Mafikeng Ladies.
Sasol Juventus Ladies have a narrow one-point lead over Storm Ladies FC but were able to hold on to the top spot in Mpumalanga’s Steam A thanks to a 2-1 win over Two Touch FC. The Rockets FC also have Super Strikers Ladies FC breathing down their neck. The Rockets are three points clear at the top, thanks to a 7-2 over Butterfly Ladies FC.
The Northern Cape Streams are also dishing up a fair amount of action as the A and B streams have new log leaders. Bodulong FC tops the standings, however they are on the same amount of points and it’s their superior goal difference that separates them from NC Consciousness Ladies FC.
Bodulong beat First Touch Ladies FC 2-0 while NC Consciousness succumbed to a 2-0 loss to Blinkklip Ladies FC. Goal difference is also what separates Royal Wizards and Diamond Ladies FC, however, Wizards have a much better goal difference and would be successful if they remain on the same points.
