The South African archery team claimed top honours at the NASP Africa Tournament as the competition returned after two years of inactivity.

This year’s instalment took place virtually as South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe competed over Zoom.

The tournament consisted of three junior team categories, which consisted of school archers, the development team made up of archers that participate in the development challenge and the alumni team composed of coaches, high school graduates and parents.

Teams participated in both the Bull’s Eye round and 3D Animal rounds. The Bull’s Eyes are shot on an 80cm target, while the Animal rounds are a hunting simulation on 3D animal targets at various distances.

Michelle Botha and Maria Becker made it a two and three finish in the alumni Bull’s Eye event.

A top performance in the last round saw Botha claim her second medal of the day, as she won bronze in the alumni 3D section.

Not to be outdone, teenager Zuraidah Alle, made it to the podium twice winning silver medals in the junior events of the Bull’s Eye and 3D.

South Africa claimed both the Bull’s Eye and 3D Animal rounds in the junior and alumni team, while the development team settled for bronze.
