The South African Badminton U15 Mixed Team scooped the coveted gold medal finish at the All Africa U15 Championship after beating Egypt in the finals in Harare, Zimbabwe, on Monday, 11 December, 2023. 

Team South Africa did not have an easy road of getting into the finals, as they faced fierce competition along the way. 

Algeria was their toughest opponent, in the semi-finals, but the team sailed through with sheer dominance and determination to beat them 3-0, setting up an epic final battle with Egypt. 

The team took their strong performance from the semi’s into the finals, and trounced Egypt in another 3-0 thrilling encounter, to win gold and be crowned the All Africa U15 Champions. 

The coach of the young South African squad, Dillan Schaap, expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the valuable experience gained from the tournament.
