Stacy Solidifies Nelspruit Lead

Stacy Bregman remains in the
lead by three shots after the second round on Friday in the Pam Golding Ladies
International, being held at the Nelspruit Golf Club.

Bregman had a steady start and
parred the 1st hole. She was on the green in three on the par five 2nd
hole where she had an easy putt for birdie before three putting-the next hole, only
to bounce right back on the 4th.

Her approach shot to the 4th
hole was really close to the green, allowing her to chip up to within a couple
of feet of the pin, to sink her second birdie of the day.

After Bregman dropped a shot on
the 5th hole, she came back again to redeem herself on both the
following par fours, and to progress her advantage further when she hit her
ball up very close to claim two more birdies on the 7th and 8th
holes respectively.

Turning on six under par,
trouble struck on the par-four 10th hole when she got stuck behind a
tree. Although she recovered with her first putt getting right up close to the
pin, it over ran and she carded another bogey.

On the 16th par four
she holed her final birdie of the day to close with one of the best rounds of
the day with a score of 70, and -6 under par for the tournament. "Overall I was
comfortable with my round today.  My putting was frustrating at times, but
I’m looking forward to tomorrow," said Bregman.

The other best round of the day
came from Swede Maria Boden just three shots behind the leader. At the start of
her second round off the 10th she dropped a shot, but claimed
birdies on par four 11th hole, and once more on the par five 14th.

Boden then had a shocking run on
the final holes of the back nine, where she dropped a shot on each of the par
fours on the 15th, 16th and 18th holes. After
a stern talking to herself it seemed she had calmed down.

The Swede then pulled her game
together and had a bogey free front nine. She sank back-to-back birdies on the
2nd and 3rd hole. With a further birdie on the par three
5th hole safely on the scorecard, she claimed her sixth birdie of
the day on the par four 9th hole.

Lying two shots behind Boden is
South Africa’s Morgana Robbertze, carding 72, and Dane Lisa Holm Sorensen a 71
for their second round today, while Gauteng’s Tandi Cuningham remains leading
amateur on +3 over par for the tournament and a score of 74 today.

The final round of the Pam
Golding Ladies International will start at 07h00 at the Nelspruit Golf Club
with the leaders off at 09h00. Entrance is free. www.ladiesafricantour.com
