Week 11 of the Hollywoodbets Super League dished out some interesting results as Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies were held to a 1-1 all draw by JVW FC at the UJ Soweto Stadium on Saturday, 4 May, 2024.

This season’s leading goal scorer Boitumelo Rabale put the visitors ahead in the 38th minute before Taylor-Ann Berkovic levelled matters for the hosts.

Sundowns Ladies Assistant coach Agnes Nkosi: “It was a really tough game. I even said it to the players in the changing room that they need to switch on. We started slow, better second half, but we are missing the chances that we are getting especially in the second half.”

The defending champions host First Touch Ladies next.

TS Galaxy Queens captain Mamello Makhabane’s sole goal against Copper Belts FC gave the Rockets their third consecutive victory at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium that sees them climb up to fourth place on the log standings.

University of Pretoria dropped points against University of Johannesburg in a 2-1 loss in the Varsity Derby. The dominant display by the Orange Army helps them maintain they second spot on the log, however, they’ve now levelled points with table toppers Banyana Ba Styla.

UJ captain of the day Ntsandeni “Angela” Munasi reflected on the game. “We felt the pressure because Tuks and UJ were both fighting for number 2 on the log. It was a good game, Tuks gave us a tough time.

“The positive thing is we need to continue winning because we managed to beat Tuks at home. I think it’s going to be easier if we go to TUT and collect 3 points.”

The biggest defeat of this round was handed to TUT Matsantsantsa FC who lost 6-1 to University of Western Cape at UWC Stadium in Cape Town.

After a shaky start to the season coach Thinasonke Mbule’s charges are finally finding their rhythm and acquiring the necessary points if they are to challenge high-flying Sundowns.
