Suzanie Pretorius upset top seed, Elizaveta Shebekina, to win her first-ever ITF title on Friday, 12 March 2021.

The 16-year-old easily swept passed her Russian opponent, with a 6-3 6-3 score-line, in 1 hour and 45 minutes.

“It is always a privilege playing against a top seed player like Elizaveta Shebekina. It was a next level experience, with so much to learn,” Pretorius said to Tennis South Africa.

“Winning is every player’s dream no matter at which level. And to succeed is a privilege.”

Pretorius will be back in action on Monday, 15 March, at North-West University in Potchefstroom, for the ITF Junior Grade 5 tournament.
