Women’s Sevens in the Spotlight

SARU has announced a squad of 12 to play in a Sevens tournament in China later month. This will serve as a warm up tournament for the SA women’s team in preparation for the first tournament of the inaugural World Sevens series that kicks off at the end of November in Dubai.

Radio Stars Qualify for Comrades

SAfm talk show host Thabiso Sikwane, and 5fm deejay Koula, have qualified for the Comrades Marathon, departing the Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 05h30 for a Sunday 17 June downrun to the Kingsmead Cricket Stadium, in Durban.

Riana van Niekerk wins Loskop

Riana van Niekerk of the Mr. Price Club won the Loskop 50km Ultramarathon in 3:22:05 on Saturday 21 April 2007, and as the ultra’s 2006 defending champion, became the first woman ever to successfully defend her title in the history of the race.

Kleynhans Exits Beijing

Erika Kleynhans became SA’s final athlete to compete in the 2006 IAAF World Junior Championships, when she placed sixth in the second heat, and failed to qualify for this afternoon’s final.
