#TBT Penny Heyns received the first-ever gsport Award, when she was inducted into the gsport Hall of Fame on 1 August, 2006. Day 1 of nominations for the 2013 #SPARgsportAwards saw a storm of support, and nominations are streaming in for this year’s event.

The 2012 SPAR gsport Awards were the best yet in its seven year history. Guests including top athletes, celebrities, nominees, and sports fans waxed lyrical about the overall organisation of the event held at the prestigious Wanderers Club in Johannesburg.
2012 SPAR gsport Awards Hall of Fame inductee Ntambi Ravele has made a lasting impact on women’s sport in SA since first being appointed as a sport administrator in 1995, and this pioneering former teacher has taken a firm interest in advancing women’s participation in sport ever since.
The biggest women’s sport winners of 2012 were announced at a star-studded gathering at the prestigious Wanderers Club in Johannesburg, where Olympic silver medallist Caster Semenya was named SPAR Athlete of the Year.
More than 100 000 votes cast in the first five days of voting for the SPAR gsport Awards. Winners will be announced on 20 November 2012.
