Telkom is not just a sponsor. It is arguably the biggest champions of netball in South Africa, and the telecommunications giant’s passionate support spans all levels of netball, from grassroots to the global stage, including the Telkom Knockout Championship, Telkom Netball League, Spar Proteas, and the landmark 2023 Netball World Cup, hosted in Cape Town.
As part of its commitment to empowering young people, Telkom’s campaign aligns with the brand promise of ‘Live your Monate’, encouraging South Africans to live joyfully and authentically.
In a time when societal pressures often silence young voices and suppress individuality, Telkom has chosen to stand tall.
Recognising sport as a powerful vehicle for transformation, they launched the #TelkomStandTall campaign, an initiative designed to inspire confidence, resilience, and pride through netball.

The goal? To encourage young girls to discover their potential, believe in their dreams, and pursue sport at every level. By leveraging its vast sponsorship portfolio, Telkom is positioning itself not only as a supporter of sport but as a driver of social change.
Central to the campaign is a hero film that captures the journey of a young girl who, despite life’s setbacks, finds strength and purpose through netball. Her story is told through a blend of live-action and animated visuals, bringing to life her vivid imagination where she becomes a superhero on and off the court. This creative approach highlights how netball acts as a pillar of support, enabling her growth into a professional athlete.

The narrative climaxes with a powerful cameo by former Spar Proteas captain Bongi Msomi, symbolising the ultimate realisation of the young girl’s dreams, and proving that greatness lies within reach.
That message came to life recently at Belville Primary, where Telkom powered a netball tournament bursting with talent, energy, and dreams. The atmosphere was electric, with notable appearances by national coach Jenny van Dyk, and netball stars Tumi Mahloko and Modiegi Komane. The event was more than just a tournament, it was a celebration of leadership, passion, and ambition.

Young players were inspired to dream big, train hard, and chase the coveted green and gold jersey of the Spar Proteas.
Mahloko enjoyed every minute of spending time with future stars of the game.
“The Telkom activation was a good day for the kids to come out and just enjoy the sport. The platform and support that Telkom has given to netball has been big, and without them, the sport wouldn’t have such events that give opportunities to young kids to showcase their talent. The future of netball is evident, and it’s through sponsors like Telkom that make it possible.”

With initiatives like #TelkomStandTall, the leading telecommunications brand is not only supporting sport but shaping a new generation of confident, empowered young women who see no limits to what they can achieve.
As the legacy of the 2023 Netball World Cup is felt, and current stars of the game continue to give their best on court in tournaments like the Telkom Netball League, Telkom’s impact will continue to be felt, not just on the court, but in the lives of the thousands of girls inspired to stand tall and Live Their Monate.
