South African rugby referee, Tshepi Moropa, is calling on the public for financial assistance to help with her medical expenses as she continues to fight breast cancer.
Earlier this year, Moropa returned to the rugby field after undergoing treatment, which she had hoped was the turning point as she had put her health first.

However, over the past few months, her health has taken a knock, which has put strain on her medical expenses.
“I’ve been undergoing treatment for breast cancer. I had my operation and then I had two rounds of chemotherapy, so that’s like two cycles. After these procedures, I have basically been in and out of hospital – about four time,” Moropa explained.
“This has happened all in a space of a year. I then had complications with my gallbladder, so I was in hospital for about 4-6 days. So, other than the cancer itself, I have had other complications, I’m not sure if it is because of the treatment, but I’ve never had these health issues before.
“As a result, there are a lot of medical bills that have come back as unpaid,” she added.
“There were certain things that weren’t covered by my medical aid. I have exhausted my limit of scans, which costs about R2500 and that now must be paid cash. Because this has been stressful and it has disrupted my life in terms of me working and getting an income, so I have shared my story on BackaBuddy for donations to assist me with these financial obligations to get back on track,” she concluded.
