Spur already sponsored schools sport, such as football and rugby, however, the focus is being shifted to invest in women’s sport.
“This sponsorship is our first major investment in women’s sport,” says Vuyo Henda, Spur Corporation’s Chief Marketing Officer.
Henda continued to express how proud they are to add netball as one of their sponsors, “Netball is without a doubt the number one sport played by women in the country, and we are proud to add schools’ netball to our list of sport sponsorships.”
The investment is only focused on the U17 age group as it is believed that this is the age when school athletes start to make their mark.
“This age group represents a very important development milestone. It’s when athletes put their hands up and start making their mark. We are all about nurturing this passion for the sport,” adds Henda.
SA Schools Netball President, Di Woolley was pleased to welcome Spur on board.
“We are very happy to welcome Spur to the Schools Netball family,” says Woolley.
“This sponsorship strengthens our efforts to grow netball at school level and to create the competitive space for the young talent to be developed,“ Woolley concluded.
