With the 2019 Varsity Netball season set to start on Monday, 26 August, the eight competing teams have shown their colours by confirming their squads.
Once again, each varsity will be represented by 16-member squads during the seven-week long tournament. Of the 128 players, reigning Player of the Tournament Khanyisa Chawane will return in Kovsies colours fresh off representing South Africa at the Netball World Cup.
Most squads have a high percentage of returning players, but there will also be a high number of first years making their debuts in Varsity Netball. With the Proteas Netball squad having featured 10 graduates from the tournament, the 2019 players can consider it as the start of the ‘Road to World Cup 2023’ which will be held in Cape Town.
