South Africa’s top woman boxer Simangele Hadebe put her talent on show in the ring as she completed a unanimous win over Nigeria’s Olamiposi Solomon to lift the WBO Africa Flyweight belt in Kagiso, Johannesburg, on Friday, 26 September 2025.
The bout was one-sided as Hadebe’s timing, speed, and ring control secured her victory. Her Nigerian opponent showed determination but could not match Hadebe’s performance. Hadebe used precise punches from every angle and earned a unanimous points decision.
“It means so much because, slowly but surely, we’re getting back to the top,” says Hadebe on her latest triumph.
“This win means a lot to me! Fighting in South Africa for another title gave me an opportunity to showcase my skills and talent to all my fans, sponsors, and supporters.”

This victory is more than a belt; it opens new opportunities for Hadebe, including more continental defences, potential world challenges, and chances to represent South Africa internationally.
She hopes her win will now be the catalyst for many things, including improving her rankings and ensuring female boxers get the recognition they deserve.
“This win will help me further up in the rankings; hopefully, it will prove to South African promoters that females can box, that females do have fans, that females belong in boxing too.”

Hadebe has no bouts lined up right now, but is positive that something will come to fruition before the end of the year.
