South Africa overcame an early scare to secure a four-wicket win over Pakistan in their final World Cup warm-up match, chasing down 229 with 59 balls to spare at the Colombo Cricket Club in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Sunday, 28 September 2025.
South Africa were rocked early in their chase when Diana Baig scalped two wickets, leaving them 27/3 inside six overs. The response came through Suné Luus and Anneke Bosch, who added a 100-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Chloé Tryon ensured there were no further hiccups for the Proteas Women after losing five wickets with 151 on board, guiding South Africa home with an unbeaten 45, sealing a comfortable win with almost ten overs to spare.
Pakistan, batting first, were bowled out for 229 in 46 overs. Captain Fatima Sana top-scored with a fluent 64, while Sidra Amin and Sidra Nawaz made useful contributions at the top, being involved in crucial partnerships.

However, Pakistan struggled for momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. South Africa took full advantage of the opportunity, allowing a full ten bowlers to send down a minimum of four overs each, and Ayabonga Khaka and Masabata Klass returned leading match figures, securing two wickets each in South Africa’s cause.
The result will boost South Africa’s confidence heading into their opening clash against England on 3 October, while Pakistan will take positives from Fatima Sana’s batting and Diana Baig’s fiery opening spell, as they begin their World Cup campaign against Bangladesh on Friday.
