The SA Hockey Interprovincial Tournament returns as the country’s leading domestic event, with the nation’s top women’s provincial sides set to battle for national supremacy at the University of Johannesburg and Hoërskool Linden in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.
The IPT remains the heartbeat of the South African hockey ecosystem, a tournament where the nation’s top talent, emerging prospects, and established internationals collide in a week that consistently shapes the national narrative.
With eight women’s teams in action, the format ensures intensity from the opening whistle, with two pools feeding into semi-finals for the top two teams, while every result at the bottom of the table carries significant consequence.
This year introduces an added layer of pressure. The bottom two teams will be relegated at the conclusion of the tournament, making way for the return of the SA U21 sides in 2027.
