South Africa’s mountain biker, Yolande de Villiers, claimed top honours at the Trans Elands MTB Marathon on Saturday, 5 June 2021.
De Villiers set a new record time of 6:19 to ride to victory.
Sharing on her Instagram, she said: “Lots of climbing, beautiful views as well as corrugated and rough descents makes the @transelandsmtb a hard and brutal 160km race. Thanks so much for the company @waldozevenster and @rogansmart.
“Huge thank you to the organisers @leonclaassen_ and @christineclaasen and the whole team for keeping Lex’s legacy alive.
“Happy to take the win in a new record time of 6:19😊. My new SA kit arrived just in time for the race. Thank you @vyecyclekit – I❤️ it🤩”
In May, the Mad Macs rider was crowned 2021 Women’s South African Cross-Country Marathon Championships title winner.
