A brilliant all-round showing by Delmari Tucker helped the South Africa Emerging Women move into an unassailable 3-0 lead in their five-match One-Day series against their counterparts from Zimbabwe with a battling 79-run victory in match three in Bulawayo on Saturday, 22 May 2021.
The Western Province star first top-scored with 65 off 76 balls (6 fours) as the tourists amassed 242 for seven, before claiming two for 14 in a strong bowling display that restricted the hosts to 163 for eight.
Tucker was not the only visiting player to shine at the Queens Sports Club, with a strong contribution coming from Masabata Klaas, who thumped a career-best unbeaten 59 (70 balls, 2 fours, 1 six).

Anneke Bosch also continued her good form in the series by following up her 46 in the series-opener with 41 off 42 deliveries. Then, with the ball, Tucker’s display was supported well by Micaela Andrews (3/35) and Leah Jones (2/15). The result secured the series for Dinesha Devnarain’s charges, with match four scheduled for Monday.
They were again solid in their latest outing, although they had to dig deep with the bat to set 243 after winning the toss and taking first strike. They were in some early trouble on 23 for two after Nomvelo Sibanda (4/57) landed a double blow inside the first five overs.
But Bosch and Annerie Dercksen (19) rebuilt with a 61-run third-wicket stand, before Lorraine Phiri (2/23) and Sibanda again struck leaving the away side in a hole on 118 for six.
That brought Klaas and Tucker together, with the pair adding 111 for the seventh wicket to propel South Africa to a competitive total.
The home side struggled in reply as Tucker and Jones removed four of the top five, before Andrews’ triple left them on the brink at 118 for eight in the 39th over.
Captain Josephine Nkomo (63* off 92 balls, 3 fours) refused to throw in the towel, though, and her third consecutive half-century helped the Zimbabweans bat out the remaining overs to end on 163/8.
