Dominique Scott-Efurd is South Africa’s second all-time fastest women’s long-distance runner after earning third position in a Personal Best time at the Chevron Houston Half Marathon on Sunday, 16 January 2022.
Scott-Efurd’s massive PB eclipsed her fastest time by over three minutes, as she is now behind the legendary Elana Meyer.
Meyer holds the record of 66:44 which she set in Tokyo, Japan, in 1999. Colleen de Reuck’s PB of 68:38 came way back in 1989 and now has the third fastest time over the distance for SA.
The Cape Town-born crossed the finish line in a time of 1hr:07min:32sec, just 17sec short of second placed American, Sara Hall.
Kenya’s Vicoty Chepngeno claimed first position in a time of 1hr:05min:03sec.
This was a team effort!! My training partners were amazing supporting me in this build. Aisha stood in the cold many times timing and calling splits! Thank you @aishapraught ☺️ https://t.co/D2tkjkLuLd
