Clinical psychologist, Dr Koketjo Tsebe, is ecstatic to lead the sport category as Mail and Guardian announced their 200 Young South Africans 2021 list on Thursday, 24 June.

Tsebe, who continues to reach high making a significant difference in the lives of athletes, says the achievement affirms her contribution to positively amplify sports psychology.

“This serves as recognition that I am on the right path. It gives me affirmation that I can still grow beyond this point and make a significant contribution in the field of sports psychology,” Tsebe revealed to gsport.

“Lastly, it reminds me once again that my childhood dreams are valid, and I can achieve them.”

Dr Koketjo Tsebe Reaching High and Making a Difference

The list also includes the youngest board member of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and the Head of the organisation’s Women’s Commission, Lwandile Simelane.

Simelane, who was one of 50 leading women in sport recognised by the Sports Ministry in 2014, has been breaking down barriers since the beginning of her career in sports administration, travelling the world to share her knowledge and represent South Africa at the biggest sporting conferences.

Determined to Change Women’s Sport

Paralympic swimmer, Kat Swanepoel, who features on the list, shared her excitement on Instagram, saying: “Super honoured and humbled to have been announced as one of the Mail and Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans for 2021!

“Looking forward to pushing the limits even more going forward.”

Sports physiotherapist, Jolandi Jacobs, who is also an associate lecturer and researcher, completes the females in the sport category, being honoured for her work in women’s running.

This year’s list celebrates 15 years of showcasing South Africa’s eminent and accomplished young people.
