With the Cricket South Africa Women’s Professional Domestic League in full swing, Fidelity Titans, Hollywoodbets Dolphins, Western Province and KZN Inland clinched victories in the One-Day Cup on Saturday 18 November, 2023.

In a phenomenal batting display from Faye Tunnicliff, who scored an electrifying run-a-ball century, Western Province claimed a massive 135 run victory against their neighbours Six Gun Garden Route Badgers at Newlands.

Western Province was put into bat after losing the toss and a good toss it was to lose. Tunnicliffe put bat to pedal and scored an incredible 136 (135) cracking thirteen fours and one maximum around the picturesque ground that is Newlands.

Delmi Tucker 46 (52) with eight fours and Kelsey Adams 40 (41) hitting three fours played a solid supportive role with Tunnicliffe as Western Province put on a massive total of 287/6 in their allotted overs.

The Badgers found themselves on the back foot as the Western Province bowlers make easy work of the top order. Haroline Rhodes 27 (52) and Chantelle van Schoor 27 (31) fought hard for the Badgers but it was not to be on the day. Nadine de Klerk was magnificent with 3/22, with Nosipho Vezi taking 2/19 as WP sailed to a 135 victory.

Dolphins take on Free State at Home

Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women, chose to bowl after winning the toss in their encounter against Recon Tactical Free State, at Kingsmead Stadium.

Gezelle Janse van Rensburg put on a fine batting display with 52 (70) with seven fours, with a contribution from Yolandi Potgieter of 36 (65) with six fours as the visitors were bowled out for 150 in the 46th over. SA U-19 fast bowler Ayanda Hlubi took a 4-wicket haul in her 10 overs for the Dolphins.

Captain Courtney Gounden set the pace for the Dolphins with 71 (93) hitting ten fours. An unbeaten 57* (80) with six fours from Alexandra Candler ensured the home team secured a 9 wicket victory.

Titans host Lions as Weather Threatens

The final Division One match of the day saw the weather Gods wreaking havoc, when DLS came into play for hosts Titans to secure a 6 run victory over DP World Lions in the Jukskei derby at TUT Oval.

Titans were put in to bat after losing the toss. Anneke Bosch scored 64 (72) with nine fours, she was supported by Gandi Jafta 50 (75) with six fours as Titans posted a total of 187/7 in their innings.

With 188 to get, Lions had a game plan but Kay Leigh Tapp had other ideas as she took out Nonkululeko Thabethe and Sunette Viljoen-Louw, with Paulinah Mashishi getting the scalp of Palesa Mapoo. Lions were on 72/3 when lightening disrupted play and the matched was called off.

KZN Inland vs Eastern Storm in Division 2

Division Two saw a nail-biting finish as KZN Inland Women beat Eastern Storm by 1 wicket at Pietermaritzburg Oval. Inland won the toss and chose to field first. Nomzamo Shabane took 3/30 with a contribution by Gugu Ngcobo with figures of 3/11, as Storm was bowled out for 169 in the 45th over.

Eastern Storm bowling attack did not make it easy for Inland.
