Gauteng Derby Headlines Day Two of CSA Competition

by | Oct 24, 2021

Titans Women sealed an important two-wicket victory over the Six Gun Grill Western Province Women to make a strong start to the CSA Women’s Provincial One-Day tournament being held at St Sthithians College today.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Titans restricted Western Province to 170 all out in 38.5 overs following half-centuries from Andrie Steyn (51) and Delmari Tucker (74) with Paulina Mashishi taking impressive figures of four for 26, supported by Sune Luus’ three for 34,

Titans’ chase was inspired by Gandhi Jafta’s 101-ball 81, with Luus also contributing 35 runs as the side from Tshwane reached their target with ease to get their first win of the season, with 6.1 balls overs to spare.

Elsewhere, Momentum Proteas all-rounder Chloe Tryon’s run-a-ball 86 was not enough as her Kwa-Zulu Natal Coastal team fell to a six-wicket defeat against Senwes Dragons Women, who were steered to victory by impressive half centuries from openers Izel Cilliers (66) and Tazmin Brits (63).

The Imperial Lions claimed a convincing 85-run triumph over Easterns Women in their Gauteng derby, with Yolani Fourie (3/35) and Proteas fast bowler Ayabonga Khaka (2/12) playing pivotal roles.

All teams will play each other once over the five days at St Stithians College.

The second day of the CSA Women’s Provincial One-Day competition takes place on Sunday, 24 October from 10h00 with the action live-streamed on Pitch Vision.
