Jemimah Rodrigues compiled a stunning century to seal a historic ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 semi-final victory for India over defending champions Australia, and clinch their place in the final, at the DY Patil Stadium at Navi Mumbai in India, on Thursday, 30 October 2025.
Scoring 127 off 134 deliveries, Rodrigues’s knock saw India chase down a record total in Women’s ODI history. The five-wicket win marks India punching their ticket to their third ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Final, following their 2005 and 2017 final campaigns.
The hosts will now take on South Africa in the World Cup summit clash, heralding a new name set to be etched on the trophy.
The 25-year-old Rodrigues put in a magnificent effort with the bat, scoring her first Cricket World Cup century in a famous chase at Dr. DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
The top-end Indian batter first combined with Mandhana to add 46 runs for the second wicket. However, a smart tactical DRS employed by skipper Alyssa Healy helped Australia register their second wicket.
Jemimah would stitch together a crucial partnership with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (89) to keep India in the contest against Australia.
The partnership would help India recover from Kim Garth notching the wickets of Shafali Verma and Mandhana within the powerplay. Verma had to walk back to the dressing room after the replay indicated she had nicked one behind off Kim Garth, claimed behind the stumps by Healy.
India would then bounce back into the game with Jemimah and Kaur adding 167 runs for the third wicket. But just as the two had tightened India’s grip in the game, Annabel Sutherland nabbed the wicket of the Indian skipper to prove Australia with an opening.

Jemimah then went on to complete a spectacular first Cricket World Cup ton. Richa Ghosh (26) and Deepti Sharma (24) also contributed with handy cameos as India inched towards a win. Amanjot Kaur (15*) would then seal the win with a boundary.
In the first innings, Phoebe Litchfield scored a spectacular maiden Cricket World Cup ton as Australia secured a mammoth total of 339 against India.
After Australia won the toss and elected to bat first, Kranti Gaud struck early to nab the all-important wicket of Australia captain Alyssa Healy to provide India with their opening breakthrough.
However, Litchfield took a counter-attacking approach to bring up her half-century. She was duly complemented by veteran all-rounder Perry at the other end as the pair helped Australia cross the 100-run mark.
The left-handed batter brought her century in the 24th over off just 80 deliveries, putting the defending champions in firm control of the semi-final.
With Australia cruising at 180/1 after 27.1 overs, Amanjot Kaur picked the prized wicket of Phoebe Litchfield (119) to break a vital second-wicket partnership for the defending champions.
Sree Charani then notched successive wickets, removing Beth Mooney, courtesy of a sharp Jemimah Rodrigues catch at cover.
The tweaker then dismissed Annabel Sutherland to reduce Australia to four wickets down in the semi-final.
Ellyse Perry (77), who had held her end for the majority of the Aussie innings, would then succumb to Radha Yadav, who cleaned up the former.
Jemimah Rodrigues continued to contribute in the field as she affected the run-out of Annabel Sutherland with a well-timed throw from the edge of the 30-yard circle at extra cover.

Late fireworks from Ash Gardner, who scored 63 off 54 deliveries, ensured that Australia crossed the 300-run milestone.
For India, Deepti Sharma would close the innings with a brace. However, it was Sree Charani, who was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/49, who eventually helped in India’s winning efforts.
India and South Africa now go head-to-head in Sunday’s final in Navi Mumbai, each team intent on making history with a first-ever ODI World Cup win for their nation.
