The inaugural Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series burst into action with thrilling matchups over the weekend, with Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women chasing down 116 runs to secure a tense two-wicket win against the Fidelity Titans Women, getting the new season underway at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Friday, 4 October, 2024.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Knights Women dominated at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, cruising to a commanding six-wicket victory over the DP World Lions Women.
In the Kingsmead Durban match, Titans posted a competitive total of 116/8, with Robyn Searle leading the charge with a well-played 39, supported by contributions from Eliz-Mari Marx (26) and Chanel Ventel (24).
However, the Dolphins rose to the challenge, as Nondumiso Shangase (33) and Yasmeen Khan (21) powered their side to 118/8, sealing the win with four balls to spare, igniting excitement for the season ahead.
The action did not stop there, with another electrifying Pro20 clash at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein on Sunday, 6 October, and this time, the Knights Women exacted retribution for their 50-over tie loss the day prior with a commanding six-wicket win over the Lions Women.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl, the Knights restricted the Lions to 115/5 in their 20 overs, with Nonkululeko Thabethe’s unbeaten 52* and Evans’ valuable 23* runs leading the Lions’ innings.
In response, Izel Cilliers was the star of the show, anchoring the Knights’ innings with a composed unbeaten 54*, guiding them to victory with two balls to spare.
The opening weekend of the Hollywoodbets ProSeries has set the tone for what promises to be a fiercely competitive and exhilarating season, with standout performances lighting up the stage at every turn.
