Eye on The Prize

Their afternoon fixture was nothing short of a nail-biter against Tshwane. Despite trailing for the majority of the match, the never-say-die attitude of Mangaung shone through as they clinched a one-goal victory in the dying embers of the game.

The remarkable comeback, as recounted by coach Martha Mosoahle-Samm, was a testament to the team’s indomitable spirit:

“We drew on the experience of our draw against Johannesburg yesterday, when we had it in the bag but let them draw level.”

Tshwane’s Resolve

The day also saw Tshwane exhibit formidable resilience against Cape Town.

Coach Rozanne Matthyse’s reflection on the narrow loss to Mangaung echoed a steadfast resolve to learn and improve:

“We shouldn’t have lost that match – we were 10 goals up at one stage and we lost by one goal. Under pressure, players need to dig deep and to draw energy from one another, but this didn’t happen.

Tshwane Head Coach Rozanne Matthyse

“We will go back and look at the game again and see what we did wrong, but I can still take positives out of this match,” said coach Matthyse.

Battles in the Heat

The tournament’s riveting action didn’t end there. Johannesburg’s march to the semifinals saw them locking horns with the formidable Dr Kenneth Kaunda and Cape Winelands, in what can only be described as a sizzling encounter, quite literally, with temperatures soaring to 36°C.

Their prowess on the court saw them outclassing their opponents and inching closer to the coveted semifinals.
