South Africa’s World Boxing Federation women’s super- welterweight world champion, Noni “She Bee Stinging” Tenge, is set to find herself in the ring with unbeaten double world champion, Emma Kozin.
According to a post on The Citizen, the fight between the two champion fighters could take place at the end of June or early July, depending on the state of the global Coronavirus pandemic and strict European travel restrictions.
The contracts for the fight have been signed by both parties as Tenge looks to step up against Kozin, who is 17 years her junior, in either Germany or Slovenia.
“It’s a very tough fight for Noni fighting someone with a formidable record, but I’m convinced if she comes in, in the best shape of her life, she can’t be written off. Notwithstanding the age difference, they both have virtually identical ring records,” said Cape Town-based WBF president Howard Goldberg.
The 39-year-old is currently preparing to get into shape as her last fight was in August 2019 before the global Covid-19 pandemic stalled her progress.
