Alex North Rand’s TS Galaxy Queens have been nothing short of consistent on the road as the 2024 season of the Hollywoodbets Super League gets underway, and a goal each side of halftime through Phindile Rakgalakane (19′) and Busisiwe Ndimeni (47’) for their away win against City Lads puts them equal on points at the top of the leaderboard after the national holiday’s action on Thursday, 21 March, 2024.
JVW FC secured the only other away win on the Human Rights Day proper’s action when they upset hosts Durban Ladies 2-1 at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban.
The match was fiercely contested for an hour without breakthrough until Khwezi Khoza netted for the home side in the 67th minute, only for the visitors Lerato Makhanya (88’) and Tanna Hollis in extra time to rain misery on the loyal supporters.
Three matches were streamed on Facebook on Thursday, featuring Royal AM holding their own in a 1-all draw away to UJ and a goalless 1-0 upset for Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies when Ronnel Donnelly (80’) won the day for the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town.
But it was TUT Matsatsantsa FC that made the most of their live-streamed action, punishing visitors Thunderbirds Ladies FC 3-nil through Glanny Mafikeng (34’) and a double-strike by Kelebogile Mfati (85’, 87’) to seal the win.
In the day’s remaining fixtures, Lindelani Ladies’ Kholeka Njoko (33’) equalised to hold Copperbelt Ladies FC (Thandi Rameri, 16’) to a 1-all draw at the Baroka Global Village, Richmond United Mathapelo Mokgeti (70’) went down 2-1 to Tuks (S’bahle Ndlovu, 21’, and Siyamthanda Qashani, 47’), and First Touch (Dineo Montwedi, 79’) defended home ground 1-nil against the University of Fort Hare at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
Sunday’s week 5 fixtures features all 16 teams in action on the same day for the first time in 2024, with 1pm kickoffs lead by JVW hosting UJ at the Soweto Stadium in the first of two live-streamed matches, and Copperbelt Ladies FC taveling to challenge Richmond Ladies at Merino park in De Aar.
SABC Sport will live broadast the Tshwane University of Technology’s Matsatsantsa Ladies hosting City Lads at the TUT Pretoria stadium in the afternoon’s pick of six 3pm kickoffs, and Facebook will host the streamed Durban Ladies visit to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
