Kenya’s Ruth Chepngetich earned a huge victory at the Chicago Marathon, winning the women’s race on Sunday, 10 October 2021.

Chepngetich crossed the finish line in 02:22.31, ahead of USA pair of Emma Bates and Sara Hall, who concluded the top three.
Since her marathon debut in 2017, Chepngetich has finished in the top three of every race and the Chicago Marathon was no different.
Bates, who was competing in her second marathon, and first world marathon, achieved a milestone winning silver with an improved time of 2:24:20.
Hall finished the race third in 2:27:1, while another American, Keira D’Amato settled for a fourth-place finish in 2:28:22.
Kenyan Vivian Kiplagat finished the race in fifth.
