The Hollywoodbets Super League is back with a bang following a brief international break and the national elections, and the absence seems to have grown the teams’ appetite for goals with a total of 21 scored in the eight results won in Week 15, ending on Sunday, 9 June, 2024.

A huge contributor to this tally was Royal AM Ladies at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium. They scored 5 unanswered goals with a double brace for Memory Makhanya (7’, 63’) and Litseoane Maloro (28’, 48’) with Sinethembe Thwala also finding the back of the net just before half time. This win takes Thwihli Thwahla’s unbeaten run to 11 games as their winning form continues.

In a battle to decide who reigns supreme in the Capital City, rivals TUT Matsatsantsa FC held defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns to a 1-1 draw. Refilwe Tholakele and Tshegofatso Motlogelwa both scoring for their respective clubs.

Sundowns head coach Jerry Tshabalala: “Yeah look, first half we were not clinical, we created a few chances, had we converted those chances we wouldn’t find ourselves in this situation that we find ourselves in, but it’s all in a game of football.”

The draw has narrowed the gap between Banyana Ba Style and second-placed University of Johannesburg to a point difference at the top of the standings.

The Orange Army defeated struggling Lindelani Ladies FC 3-0 with Thato Mofolo’s opening goal in the third minute, ensuring that she eclipses Boitumelo Rabale on the Top Goals Scorers list. She now has nine goals, while Rabale sits on eight.

The second goal came from Gugu Dhlamini (58’) while Shannon Macomo, who’s back from national duty with Banyana Banyana, scored a penalty to seal the sweet victory at the UJ Soweto Stadium.

University of Fort Hare was no match for University of Western Cape as Sibulele Holweni (12’), Noxolo Cesane (32’), Khanya Xesi (34’) were all on target for UWC FC and Thuliswa Gwija gifted the hosts an own goal to make it 4-0 in Cape Town. Coach Thinasonke Mbuli will welcome this confidence boosting result ahead of a tough fixture next week against a resurgent Royal AM side.

In other results on Saturday, Copper Belts FC and First Touch Ladies shared the spoils in a 1-all draw. Durban Ladies cruised past City Lads as skipper Nontobeko Mkhaliphi scored the sole goal of the encounter.

To conclude Week 15, University of Pretoria and JVW FC played to a goalless draw, while in the other fixture TS Galaxy Queens and Richmond United drew 2-2 at eMalahleni Puma Stadium.
