Talented Young South Africans Awarded Wildcards in Potchefstroom

Several young South African players have been given wildcard entries into the second week of the Ilana Kloss International, beginning Monday, 15 February 2021, at the North-West University in Potchefstroom.

Top women’s player Chanel Simmonds will lead the country’s charge in the main draw at the Women’s ITF $25,000 World Tour event.

Simmonds is joined by fellow country-mates – Zoë Kruger, Isabella Kruger and Suzanie Pretorius, who were awarded main draw wild cards into the event.

The Kruger sisters impressed last week, with Zoë reaching the quarterfinal round after losing to unseeded tournament runner-up Anna Bondar of Hungary on Friday, 12 February.

Isabella was a breakout star, qualifying for the main draw and reaching the second round before falling to fourth seed Reka-Luca Jani of Hungary.

Tennis South Africa also announced the five women who have been awarded wildcard entries into the qualifying tournament.

Players receiving qualifying wild cards for the second week of the Ilana Kloss International includes, Katie Poluta, Ntokozo Zungu, Delien Kleinhans, Leigh van Zyl and Mari-Louise van Zyl.

The second week of the Ilana Kloss International runs from Monday to Sunday, February 21 at the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus.
