India’s Aditi Ashok secured a remarkable triumph at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, clinching her second Ladies European Tour victory of the season with a commanding two-shot lead.

Ashok showcased an exceptional performance at Real Club de Golf Las Brisas throughout the week, culminating in an impressive bogey-free final round of 66, ending the tournament with a stellar 17-under-par.

Reflecting on her win, Ashok commented, “It started out slow, but I kept pushing and knew I had a chance. Anne [Van Dam] was a tough competitor, and her play kept me on my toes. It was a great battle out there.”

Dutch star Anne Van Dam, a two-time winner of the tournament, finished in a commendable second place, just behind Ashok, with a final round of 68 (-4) and a total score of 15-under-par. Van Dam praised Ashok’s performance, acknowledging her opponent’s exceptional play throughout the final round.

Spain’s Ana Peláez Trivino secured a third-place finish, concluding the tournament with a strong final round of 68 (-4). “It was a special week,” said the Malaga native. “I’m happy with my performance and excited about what’s ahead.”

The event also saw notable performances from Sweden’s Linn Grant, Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley, and Belgium’s Manon de Roey, all finishing within the top six.

South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace shot a consistent 1-under par 71 in her final 18 for a tour total 6-under par and a share of 15th place with Spain’s Maria Hernandez and France’s Anne-Lise Caudal.

Her compatriots Casandra Alexander, matching Pace with two bogeys against three birdies for 71, and Nicole Garcia on a final round of 73, both finished 1-under par for a share of 31st with Agathe Sauzon (FRA), Lily May Humphreys (ENG) and Alice Hewson (ENG).

In the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol, Trichat Cheenglab emerged victorious, claiming the trophy with a total of 1,966.52 points, followed by Celine Boutier and Diksha Dagar.

Cheenglab joins an elite group as the sixth player to secure both the Race to Costa del Sol and Rookie of the Year titles in the same season, following the footsteps of compatriot Atthaya Thitikul.

The Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España showcased exceptional talent and thrilling competition, setting the stage for an exciting upcoming season.
