Burn Practically Unbeatable in ’13 Surfski Series

by | Mar 2, 2013

Since returning from her injury layoff Michelle Burn (Team Jeep) has been in a class of her own in the women's field, as she claimed victory in Friday evening's IT Works Surfski Challenge, race eight of the Varsity College Marine Surfski Series. Photo: Anthony Grote/ Gameplan Media

Mixed doubles victors Len Jenkins and partner Julie Cornelius take on momentum to cross the finish line in first place for the mixed doubles race. Photo: Anthony Grote/ Gameplan MediaMichelle Burn once again stamped her authority on proceedings in the women’s race as the Durban Bay produced a comfortable win in novice-friendly conditions in Friday evening’s IT Works Surfski Challenge, race eight of the Varsity College Marine Surfski Series.

Burn came home well ahead of Varsity College paddlers, Nikki Russell and Jenna Ward.

With just two races to go, Burn looks comfortable favourite to claim this year’s women’s title, one she has made her own for the past few years.

With just two races left in the ten-leg series, many around South Africa are starting to feel the excitement build ahead of the Varsity College SA Schools Surfski Champs, which also take place on the evening of the tenth and final leg of the series on 15 March 2013.

Race nine of the Varsity College Marine Surfski Series, the Hi Q Surfski Challenges, takes place on Friday 8 March, with all the action getting underway at the usual 17h30.
