Springbok Women’s 7s team qualify for the Commonwealth Games after successfully defending their Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens title at the Stade Municipal de Jemmal in Tunisia on Saturday, 30 April 2022.

South Africa defeated Madagascar 15-14 to clinch their 8th Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens title.

Perfect Start for South Africa at Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens

Tries from Nadine Roos, Lusanda Dumke and Eloise Webb ensured South Africa earned a narrow victory against a resilient Madagascar.

Despite the defeat, Madagascar qualified for the Rugby World Cup Sevens after host nation, South Africa gained automatic qualification.

Earlier, the Paul Delport-coached side outplayed Ghana 17-5 in the quarter-finals and went on to outsmart host nation, Tunisia 31-0 in the semi-finals.

On the other hand, Madagascar were also on top of their game defeating Zambia 14-10 before booking their place in the final with a 17-12 victory against Uganda.

New Beginnings and Second Chances for Imbokodo in Tunisia

In a closely contested third-place play-off, Tunisia stormed to victory with a 17-15 victory over Uganda.
