Momentum Proteas Hunt T20 Series Win in Potch

The Momentum Proteas women are geared up to face their final battle against Sri Lanka when they play the third and final Twenty20 (T20) at Senwes Park Stadium in Potchefstroom on Monday. The series is tied at one-all, meaning the third match will truly be a final for the trophy.

Team coach, Hilton Moreeng, is pleased with the progress his side has made and believes that a loss is not always something to look at in a negative light. “The team has played really good cricket in the last few months, and have progressed and got better as they have gone along,” said Moreeng.

“But we didn’t play to our potential in the last game. Sri Lanka played better than us and they deserved to win,” said Moreeng.

“When you go through a winning streak, a loss is a character building experience, and we will see how we have used the lessons we had to learn in the last match.”

South Africa were unbeaten on this tour (both One Day International and T20) until they suffered a 20-run loss to against Sri Lanka on Friday. They are ready now to pick themselves up from the disappointment and concentrate on the job at hand.

“We had a look at how we played yesterday and we all agreed that we are a better team than that. Tomorrow’s game is even more exciting now because it is the series decider. The team is ready, we’re hyped because it’s a good opportunity to show how well we can bounce back and hopefully claim the series.”

The final on Monday will start at 10am, entrance is free and braai facilities will be made available at Senwes Park Stadium.
