An unbeaten century from Nadine Moodley saw the Hollywoodbets KZN Coastal Women’s cricket team defeat Eastern Storm Women by 86 runs, in one of three top six results in the CSA Women’s Provincial T20 Cup on Sunday, 27 February, 2022.
The Flames won the toss and chose to bat. Nadine Moodley picked up from where she left off the day before, scoring an unbeaten on 107* (70) and setting up the coastal team nicely with a defendable total of 159/2.
Eastern Storm once again struggled to get going and lost wickets at regular intervals with Alysia Rudolph 16 (20) being the highest scorer for Easterns. Spin sensation Sisanda Ngubane caught Easterns on the back foot, as she took three wickets for the Flames and restricted Eastern Storm to 73/7 in their allotted overs.
In the second Top 6 clash in Cape Town, Six Gun Grill Western Province Women’s team showed their dominance as they beat Senwes Northwest Dragons by 4 runs. Western Province chose to bat after winning the toss. Delmari Tucker scoring a fine half century 55 (30), as the home team scored 143/5.
Izel Cilliers is looking in fine form with the bat for the Dragons but her hard-fought 46 (38) was not enough for her side, as the Dragons ended on 139/8.
In the final Top 6 match, Titan’s women beat Imperial Gauteng Lions Women. Nonkululeko Thabethe top-scored for the Lionesses with 42 (44) with Kirstie Thomson yet again showing her talent with the bat on 34 (31).
Titans’ women made it look easy in the run chase, with Gandhi Jafta unbeaten on 32* (22) as the Daisy Ladies, reached 116/5 in 17.5 overs, and beat the Lionesses by 5 wickets.
In the Pool B clash, Free State women continued their winning ways as they beat Tuskers Women by 9 wickets based on Duckworth-Lewis.
Tuskers Women were restricted to 80/7 in their 20 overs, with youngster Alexandra Candler displaying fine form with the bat 42 (50). Zintle Kula took two wickets for the Bloemfontein Roses. Free State was given a revised target of 34 with 7 overs to be bowled. Yolandi Potgieter saw her team safely home with an unbeaten 19* (16) as the Free State team reached 38/1 in 5.3 overs.
