South African triathlete, Gillian Sanders, has expressed her delight after officially qualifying for the Tokyo Olympic Games, as per the World Triathlon qualification standards.
Speaking to gsport Sanders revealed: “We have officially qualified as per the World Triathlon qualification and selected by Triathlon South Africa.
“We have also fulfilled all the criteria set out by SASCOC. I think SASCOC only announces the full team on 29 June.”
Should the 39-year-old feature in the final team list selected by SASCOC, she will represent the country at her third Olympic Games in her career.
Recently, Sanders earned second place at the Africa Triathlon in Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt and will be hoping that her performances will entice national selectors to send her over to Tokyo.
