After an incredible day of surfing in the Bonus Round, the final Women’s Leaderboard results were determined at the World Surf League J-Bay Classic presented by Corona Specialty at Supertubes, in Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape in South Africa, on Friday, 21 June, 2024.
The WSL J-Bay Classic finals day has been called on in clean four-to-six foot surf with light winds, with the Women’s Semifinals to start competition at 8:15am, and South African J-Bay Classic Trials winner Sarah Baum remains in the reckoning.
The saw the top four women also including log leader, Hawaii’s Coco Ho, and Australians Stephanie Gilmore and Sally Fitzgibbons, progress to the Semifinals, and they will compete a standard bracket format. Competitors can ride any surfboard of their choice.
In Friday’s Bonus Round, the USA’s Sage Erickson was eliminated form the title chase after finishing in third place in her heat lead by Fitzgibbons and Baum, who advanced, and Australian Sierra Kerr scored the lowest to lose out to Gilmore and Ho.
In Saturday’s semi-finals, Baum will take on Ho, while the two Australians will be looking for the advantage to take on the second semi’s winner for a shot at the 2024 title.
