The Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series delivered high-octane action, as both WSB Western Province Women and DP World Lions Women lit up the field with spectacular white ball victories on Sunday, 20 October, 2024.
The day’s clashes were packed with drama, skill, and brilliant performances, securing crucial wins for the two sides in thrilling fashion.
At SuperSport Park, WSB Western Province Women won the toss and elected to bat first against Fidelity Titans Women. Lara Goodall played a solid knock, contributing 38 runs before being bowled by Rusika Maharaj.
Babette de Leede chipped in with 31, while Kelsey Adams remained unbeaten on 28*, guiding her team to a competitive total of 148/7 in 20 overs. Titans bowlers Eliz-Mari Marx (3/44) and Maharaj (2/29) put up a commendable effort.
In response, Titans Women struggled to keep up with the required run rate despite a notable performances from Marx, who followed up her bowling heroics with a solid 44 before being dismissed by Kayla Reyneke, and Simone Lourens’ 25, Titans were held to 131/6 after their 20 overs.
Reyneke (2/23) and Tatum le Roux (2/12) led the charge for Western Province with the ball, ensuring a 17-run victory.
Meanwhile, at DP World Wanderers Stadium, DP World Lions Women faced off against Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers in another riveting encounter. Lions Women batted first, with Shabnim Ismail’s fiery 37 runs leading their charge to a total of 141 all out in 19.5 overs.
Micaela Andrews (2/18) and Gizelle Abrahams (2/9) were the standout bowlers for the Badgers.
In reply, the Badgers faltered under the pressure of Lions’ disciplined bowling attack. Ismail once again dominated, claiming 3/18, while Madison Landsman’s tight spell earned her figures of 2/3.
Despite Voyolwethu Bonya’s 23-run effort, the Badgers could only manage 99/9 in their 20 overs, handing the Lions a convincing 42-run victory.
