Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series action resumed with the second week’s fixtures seeing WSB Western Province Women and Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women flex their muscles for emphatic victories in their respective matches to claim the weekend double over their opponents on Sunday, 13 October, 2024.
At the WSB Newlands Cricket Ground, Western Province showcased their prowess with a convincing 33-run win over the Knights. After being put into bat, the match hosts posted a competitive total of 150/6 in their 20 overs.
Lara Goodall led the charge with a brilliant 48 before being caught by Verunissa Reddy off Yolandi Potgieter’s bowling. Faye Tunnicliffe (20) and Jemma Botha (23) also contributed, while Kelsey Adams’ unbeaten 37* added valuable runs at the back end.
Knights’ Jameeiah Skaikjee was the standout with the ball, claiming 3/29, while Luyanda Nzuza’s tight spell earned her 2/15.
In response, the Knights Women struggled to keep up with the required rate. Luyanda Nzuza fought hard with a solid 33, but Jemma Botha’s all-round brilliance shone through as she took 3/18, including the crucial wicket of Nzuza.
Despite Gezelle Janse van Rensburg (18*) and Anica Swarts (20*) showing resilience, the Knights finished on 117/6, falling short by 33 runs.
Meanwhile, at the Six Gun Grill Recreation Grounds in Oudtshoorn, Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women cruised to a commanding 53-run victory over Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers.
The Dolphins set a formidable total of 148/3, driven by Alexandra Candler’s masterful unbeaten 55* and Nondumiso Shangase’s quick-fire 48. Nobuhle Busane chipped in with 37, as Dolphins dominated the Badgers’ bowling attack.
Gizelle Abrahams (1/17), Khayakazi Mathe (1/22), and Julandi Saayman (1/23) shared the wickets.
In reply, the Badgers struggled to build momentum. Jana Nell top-scored with 38, but the Dolphins’ bowlers, led by Zintle Mali’s superb 2/19, stifled the chase. Badgers could only manage 95/7 in their 20 overs, sealing a convincing 53-run win for the Dolphins.
