#TBT Penny Heyns received the first-ever gsport Award, when she was inducted into the gsport Hall of Fame on 1 August, 2006. Day 1 of nominations for the 2013 #SPARgsportAwards saw a storm of support, and nominations are streaming in for this year’s event.

The 2012 SPAR gsport Awards were the best yet in its seven year history. Guests including top athletes, celebrities, nominees, and sports fans waxed lyrical about the overall organisation of the event held at the prestigious Wanderers Club in Johannesburg.
World leader in Visual Performance, Dr. Sherylle Calder, veteran sport journalist Jane Bramley, business woman Uyanda Mbuli and netball legend, Hazel Gumede will have their work cut out for them when they judge this year’s SPAR gsport Awards.

Influential media and entertainment personalities Roxy Burger, Mpho Maboi, Anele Mdoda, Shashi Naidoo, Hulisani Ravele and Liezel van der Westhuizen have been unveiled as the Ambassadors for the 2012 SPAR gsport Awards. The role of the ambassadors is to encourage greater public participation in the nomination and voting process.
