Young women sport stars are encouraging South Africa’s youth to work hard to make their dreams a reality as the country celebrates Youth Day on Tuesday, 16 June.
Multiple Western Province cross-country champion, Amy Abrahams, who is currently using her running and teaching experience to mentor young children, reminds the youth that nothing is impossible.
“As we celebrate youth month, I want you to spread positivity wherever you go. I also want to remind you that you are a success and capable of anything that you put your mind to, and you are not what other people think of you!”
“Surround yourselves with people who have similar goals as you, keep working hard and remember that challenges will always be there but pick yourself up and keep your head up high.” – Banyana Banyana midfielder, Kholosa Biyana.
Banyana Banyana midfielder, Kholosa Biyana, says it is important to stay committed and focussed on what you are aiming to achieve.
“Stay committed and focussed on what you want to achieve. Surround yourselves with people who have similar goals as you, keep working hard and remember that challenges will always be there but pick yourself up and keep your head up high.”
As a leader, Tuks Football captain, Thalea Smidt reassures our youth that it does not matter where you come from, as it does not determine your future.
“I want you to know that your dreams are valid, we are the future of this world, I also want you to know that your resolution for success is far much important than anyone else’s and don’t let your circumstances define where you will end up!”
Rising tennis star, Kaitlyn Ramduth, is keeping a positive outlook on life under Covid-19 lockdown and encourages the youth to keep forging ahead.
“I want to take this opportunity to encourage the youth far and wide. No matter what walk of life you come from, throw the caution to the wind, especially at this time when crisis threatens society that this is the end.”
