Karabo Mailula claimed her maiden national title after winning the Women’s 10km race at the 2023 Athletics South Africa (ASA) National Cross Country Championship, held in Gqeberha on Saturday, 16 September, 2023.
Mailula clinched victory with a remarkable time of 36:46, even in the face of challenging windy conditions.
The Tusk runner asserted her dominance right from the beginning of the women’s race and encountered no significant competition throughout the entire event.
Mailula’s victory has earned the honour of representing South Africa at the forthcoming World Cross Country Championships, in March 2024.
This prestigious event was originally planned to be held in Croatia, but due to their withdrawal as hosts, the location in Europe is yet to be officially confirmed.
