DP World Lions Women and Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women had cricket fans on the edge of their seats, stealing the spotlight with commanding Hollywoodbets Pro50 Series victories in their respective matches on Saturday 16 November, 2024.
Home at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, the Lions Women set a formidable total of 272/9 after being put in to bat by WSB Western Province Women. Sunette Viljoen-Louw was the star of the innings, showcasing her experience with a masterful knock of 93 runs in 94 balls, supported by valuable contributions from Karabo Meso (28), Jenna Evans (27), and Fay Cowling (29).
Western Province bowlers shared the spoils, with Caitlin Wyngaard (2/37), Leah Jones (2/40) and Tatum le Roux (2/58) leading the effort.
Chasing 273 for victory, Western Province stumbled to 184 all out in just 27.3 overs, despite a gritty innings of 60 from Faye Tunnicliffe (43 balls) and run-a-ball contributions from Dané van Niekerk (38) and Lara Goodall (31).
The Lions’ bowling attack, led by a sensational 5/44 from Kgomotso Rapoo, dismantled the opposition, with Fay Cowling adding an impressive 3/36. The Lions Women triumphed by 88 runs, reaffirming their strength in the tournament.
Meanwhile, Hollywoodbets Dolphins Women continued their remarkable form at the Chatsworth Oval in Durban, consolidating their position at the top of the table with a bonus-point win against Six Gun Garden Route Badgers.
The Badgers were bundled out for a paltry 66 runs in 33.5 overs with the Dolphins’ bowling unit was on fire, Nonkululeko Mlaba (3/5), Jade de Figueiredo (2/4) and Nobulumko Baneti (2/11) wreaking havoc.
In reply, the Dolphins Women comfortably chased down the target, reaching 68/4 in 16.2 overs. Alexandra Candler anchored the innings with a classy 36, while Nicole de Klerk (11*) and Asamkele Kawu (4*) finished the job.
The Dolphins’ six-wicket win with a bonus point further strengthens their grip on the top spot, marking them as the team to beat this season. The Hollywoodbets Pro50 Series continues to deliver riveting contests as teams battle for supremacy
