Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers’ opening pair of Tazmin Brits 118* (65) and Tabitha La Grange 79* (55) carried their bats in an unbroken stand after winning the toss and electing to bat first, amassing 207/0 in their allotted overs to beat the beat Recon Tactical Free Street Ladies by 38 runs at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein, on Sunday, 26 November, 2023.
Brits’ unbeaten 118* (65) with twelve fours and seven sixes added to La Grange’s unbeaten 50, at way better than a run a ball, was too far a total for Free State, who braved a sensational fight.
Contributions from Elandri Janse van Rensburg 33 (31), Anika Swart 46 (30), Zintle Kula 25 (14) and an unbeaten effort of 28* (18) from Miane Smit took them well down the road, but it still was not enough to take the home team over the finish line, as they ended on 169/6 in their allotted overs.
Dolphins host the Titans
In the second match in Division One, Fidelity Titans brought their #DaisyLadies power to Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium in Durban as they beat the Hollywoodbets Dolphins Ladies by 15-runs.
Losing the toss, Titans batter Anneke Bosch 26 (32), Suné Luus 31 (22), Gandhi Jafta 23 (18) and Amogelang Maphangula 23 (17) set up a defendable total of 133/6 in their allotted overs.
Ayanda Hlubi was once again pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/27 as the Dolphins did their best to restrict the visitors.
Defend the total Titans most certainly did as the Dolphins batting unit fell at regular intervals. Courtney Gounden 10 (21), Zintle Mali 16 (19), Jade de Figueiredo 10 (15) and unbeaten effort from youngster Ayanda Hlubi 21* (19) staged a good fight, but the home side fell 15 runs short as they finished on 118/9 in their innings.
KZN Inland Host the Dragons
North West Dragons claimed the double over KwaZulu-Natal Inland as they beat the home team by 6 wickets at Pietermaritzburg Oval, in Division Two.
Inland were put in to bat after having lost the toss, but Megan Wessells 18 (47) and Jessica Candler 11 (9) were the only batters to reach double figures, as Inland reach 58/7 in their innings.
In response Diedre van Rensburg 21 (23) and Lerato Kotokoane 11 (16) set up the run chase nicely with the Dragons reaching 59/4 in the twelfth over.
Kei Ladies Take on the Heat
In the final T20 match of the day in Division two, Northern Cape Heat beat Kei Ladies by 10-wickets.
Kei won the toss and chose to bat first. Siviwe Silo was the only batter to reach double figures with her 12 (18), as the Heat bowling unit ripped through the batting order of the visitors. Kei was bowled out for 47 in the sixteenth over.
Unbeaten stance from Bernadette Greeff 12* (23) and Susan Benade 34* (29) saw the home side comfortably home with the score on 48/0 in the ninth over.
