There’s no Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series white ball action scheduled this weekend as we review last weekend’s results, where DP World Lions Women secured a dominant win over Fidelity Titans at SuperSport Park in Centurion, when the Titans Women opted to bat first after winning the, only to be restricted to 101 all out, in 19.2 overs with spectacular Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series white ball victories last weekend, on Sunday, 3 November, 2024.
Despite several batters making promising starts, the Titans couldn’t build momentum, with Chanel Venter (20), Tebogo Macheke (23), Gandhi Jafta (17), and Monalisa Legodi (15) as the main contributors in the home team’s batting effort.
Sarah Nettleton’s remarkable spell of 5/11 lead a superb display by the Lions bowling unit, and Refilwe Moncho added to the Titans’ troubles, taking 2/15, and the persistent attack left the Titans reeling.
In reply, the Lions Women chased down the target comfortably, reaching 103/1 in just 8.1 overs. Tazmin Brits delivered a stellar performance to go top of the batters’ strike-rate log for this season, scoring an astounding 55* off 22 balls, including the powerful strokes that propelled her team to victory.
Brits received strong support from Kirstie Thomson, who remained unbeaten on 22*, alongside the season’s leading runs-scorer, Nonkululeko Thabethe, who contributed 22 runs to set the pace. The Lions’ batting display was marked by aggressive intent, as they wrapped up the match with a 9-wicket win.
The unbeaten Hollywoodbets Dolphins continued their winning ways against the Knights when their tie ended in a rain-affected outcome at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein.
Batting first, the Knights could only compile 28/2 in their innings which had been limited to five overs, with Verunissa Reddy showing resilience to remain not-out on 18.
Dolphins Women, determined to maintain their unbeaten record, chased the revised and adjusted target to reach 39/6 (D/L method) in 5 overs to win the nail-biting finish by four wickets.
Courtney Gounden’s quick 16 and Yasmeen Khan’s unbeaten 8 led the charge, as the Dolphins maintained composure despite losing wickets.
The Dolphins’ bowling and fielding proved crucial, with Gizelle Janse van Rensburg’s 2/12, Zintle Kula’s 1/9, and Yolandi Potgieter’s 1/10 keeping the Knights in check.
With this win, the Dolphins hold on to their unbeaten streak and sit comfortably at the top of the Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series table. As the series heats up, fans can expect more excitement as the competition progresses.
The next Hollywoodbets Pro20 Series action next weekend will be between the Dolphins at home to the Badgers, and the Lions against Western Province at Wanderers on Sunday, 17 November, 2024.
