Western Province fought back with a victory over Fidelity Titans, whilst Limpopo Lilies claimed the weekend double over KZN Inland in the CSA Women’s T20 League action on Sunday 3 December.
In the extremely hot conditions, teams were determined in getting the job done as quickly possible, and Western Province exerted a fierce fighting spirit that saw them claim a 63-run away victory, over Fidelity Titans at SuperSport Park.
Winning the toss, Western Province chose to bat and bat they did. Faye Tunnicliffe played a superb unbeaten innings of 108* (68) with eighteen fours and two sixes. Jemma Botha 20 (17), Babette de Leede 12 (11), Kelsey Adams 14 (12) and unbeaten effort from Yandiswa Mangele 7* (5) put in solid contributions as WP reached a total of 176/4 in their allotted overs.
Paulinah Mashishi has been the bowler that consistently takes wickets for the #DaisyLadies with figures of 2/18, with Tiani van der Heuvel in full support with a spell of 2/34.
Titans hit back hard but Kayla Reyneke bowled an incredible spell of 4/22 that restricted the flow of runs for the home side. Tiani van der Heuvel was unbeaten on 21* (31) along with Ricea Coetzer 16* (22) as Titans could only manage 113//7 in their innings.
Lilies Host the Tuskers
In the only match for Division Two, Limpopo Lilies completed the weekend double when they beat KZN Inland by 3-wickets at the Polokwane Cricket Club.
Having lost the toss, the Limpopo put the Tuskers in to bat to bat first and followed that up with brilliant bowling which had the KZN Inland team struggling to put runs on the board.
Jessica Candler was unbeaten on 23* (23) as the visitors reached 78/6 in their allotted overs while Akani Mashimbyi was the pick of the bowlers, boasting 3/8 in her four overs.
Kushi Mistry set up the run chase with a splendid 32 (40), while Mashimbyi contributed an unbeaten 12* (14) to take the team home with twelve balls to spare. Nomzamo Shabane took 2/11 for Inland, but it was not enough for the visitors on the day.
