During the month of June, South African women in sport continued to punch above their weight globally, to raise their hand for inclusion in the monthly #GAL2022 Newsmakers list, powered by the Momentum gsport Newsroom.
Locally, Border Ladies stamped their authority in the Women’s Rugby Premier Division to ensure that they retain their league title in thrilling fashion in the final against DHL Western Province.
The Telkom Netball League was a stellar campaign which saw the Eastern Cape Aloes defend their Division 2 title, while Golden Fireballs made history winning their first-ever Division 1 crown.
Making waves abroad, sprint sensation Carina Horn set a new 100m world qualifying time in Spain, while swim star, Lara van Niekerk became the second SA woman swimmer to win a medal at the FINA World Championships.
